  •   The Nano Aquarium

We have three small saltwater aquariums. The main tank holds six gallons, while the secondary tanks hold three gallons. Tanks of this size are referred to as nano aquariums because they are very much smaller than what was formerly considered a requirement for saltwater aquaria to succeed. Our experience, as well as many other in the hobby, has shown tanks can be viable at a much smaller size than the once-typical 100-200 gallon tank.

The main tank is host to numerous colt corals, as well as one feisty yellow-tailed blue damesel. We've had bivalves, tunicates, sponges, and whatever you can think of appear from and vanish into the live rock.

The first secondary tank was built to house a small crab which arrived in an order of amphipods/copepods/etc from a vendor in Florida. He grew to ~2.5 inches across before before dieing from a shedding injury.

Explanations and more to follow, possibly.
